Message from the contest committee chair

This was my first contest running the show and it went as well as could be expected. Problem 6 was mis-stated and resulted in a number of problems. Problems 1 and 3 proved to be very easy, there were no real tricks to them just keeping track of a little bit of data. Problem 4 was a basic knapsack problem and resulted in few attempts. Problem 2 was my personal favorite, solving for magic square like boxes. A brute force solution could actually function here as long as it were iterative and not recursive in nature. Problem 5 wasn't meant to be as tricky as it was, however, the difficulty in the problem statement was largely to blame for the lack of correct responses.
